Coordinator, Gloria Gordon opened the meeting together as we read the Purpose and Mission statements. Nine women and Pastor John Hanson met at Rhonda Nichols’ home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2010.
The April 8, 2010 minutes were read by Donna Bolstorff, Secretary. After a motion by Paulette Ojanen and a 2nd by Judy Trubenbach the minutes were unanimously approved.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Penny Smeby and was unanimously approved. There is $948.76 in the checkbook and $1,523.35 in the savings account for a total balance of $2,472.11. It was noted that the Council will pay $27.99 for the confirmation cake.
Old Business:The Mother’s Day brunch will take place on May 9, 2010. Gloria Gordon indicated that the sign-up poster was completed and all the dishes were washed by those attending the All Day Quilting held on May 6, 2010.
The Opening Fishing Fundraiser will be held on May 15th beginning at 6:30 a.m. and continue to operate until all baked items are sold. Paulette Ojanen, Judy Trubenbach and Grace Hagen will conduct this bake sale on the Talmoon Store corner. All JLLC members are encouraged to bring a variety of baked goods to sell and leave the items at the Fellowship Hall on May 14, 2010. They will divide up the goods and sell them as the customer chooses.
The Father’s Day Brunch will be held at JLLC on June 20, 2010. Discussion for this event will be tabled until our June 8, 2010 meeting.
The Salad Luncheon to be held at the Family Center in Marcell, July 21, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Crafter’s Show held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Judy Trubenbach has volunteered to be the Chair of this event. The theme will be ‘Teapots’ and there is a need for twenty of them to set on the tables. The cost for children ten and under will be $3.00 and for adults it will be $6.00. The following persons have volunteered to be sub-committee chairs:

b. Decorations: Judy Trubenbach
c. Raffle: Joyce Olsen and Rhonda Nichols
d. Vendors: Alice
e. Bake Sale: Penny Smeby
f. Set-up and Clean-up (men?)
On June 1, 2010 Judy indicated that a sign-up poster will be placed on the table in he Fellowship Hall for JLLC members to indicate their interest in helping. Some items being donated for the Raffle are: afghan, towels, duck house, dishcloths. Other items are needed.
Gloria passed around the thank you cards for the fruit baskets which were given to friends and members of JLLC.
Fifteen beautiful quilts are completed. They will be sent to the Synod meeting in June. They have each been placed on the pews in the church for display.
Quilting has been suspended during June, July and August because of members’ busy summer schedules.
Pastor John noted that there are persons in the church who want to conduct a major Auction fundraiser on August 14, 2010-- Grace Hagen being one of the persons. He discussed an element of selling ‘a service’ as well as selling objects. All who are interested should let him know. He will bring the idea of this event to the Church Council on May 11, 2010.
Pastor John invited all JLLC and Suomi members and friends to an outdoor service at his cabin on Turtle Lake on August 8, 2010 with a 10:30 a.m. worship service and following with a potluck and games.
Pastor John indicated that there are new members who will join JLLC: Bob and Barb Wilhelm, Val Conner and Mike Riemann and Duane Boehm. He will find JLLC sponsors to welcome them into our congregation.
Pastor John presented our Bible Study on Lydia based in the book of Acts. A request was made to let us know what the next Bible Study will be so we can prepare for it. He is most willing to do so.
The next meeting will be hosted by Gloria Gordon in the Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. on June 3, 2010.

A request for a delegate for the NE Minnesota Women’s Synod on June 3,4, and 5th was made by Gloria Gordon. It was noted that Minga Elftmann received a scholarship to attend and cannot be our delegate, too. Jean Caldwell will be the delegate from Suomi. No one was able to volunteer to go at this time.
